Saturday a cricket match be^ben a team frcm Wainuiand the supporters of the Gold Queen was played at Kaukapakapa. Wainui batted first, and scored as follows :—Fennel 17, 5; J. Scott 1, 0 ; Kinsey 0, 2; Hamilton 11, 3; P. Wood 0,2; Pascoe 0, 0 ; Hellyer 0, 0 ; C. Scott 8,15 ;B. Stevens 3, 0 ; W. Stevens 2 ; H. Mcßride 15.
Gold Queen team :—T. Osbaldiston 3, 0; Broom 0, 1; W. Osbaldiston 2, 1; J. Mcßride 1, 10; W. McLean 2, 4; Koller 10, 1; Stewart 7, 20; G. Dye 2, 5 ; S. Osbaldiston 6, 11; Mumford 4, 0 ; Rapson 1, 0.
The latter team won by 12 runs. The day was fine, and the pitch played fairly true. A thoroughly enjoyable day was spent, and Red Cross funds benefitted to the extent of about £6.
The two qneens (blue and gold) are running a good race, but up to the present blue is leading. Gold, however, is a noted stayer, and has, so her supporters claim, a famous final sprint.
