More Light.—lt is to be regretted that the local Post Office is now known as the " dark spot in the district." As no light is being provided for holders of private boxes it has been suggested'that they should subscribe to buy a kerosene lamp and present it to the Post Office, as the cost of matches used in trying to find the key-hole in the dark is becoming very expensive.
Help our wounded soldiers by attending the Red Cross fancy-dress and hard-up social, to be held in the Agricultural Hall on Monday evening next, July 29th, under the auspices of the Catholic Church Committee. The Committee has decided to devote the total proceeds to the Red Cross funds, and an exceptionally •njoyable evening is anticipated.
At a meeting of the Helensville A. and P. Association, held on Tuesday last, it was reported that the socials were being well patronised, and it is the intention of the Committee to continue these socials in the interests of the Association Patrons find that the .splendid floor and good music enable them to spend a very pleasant evening—the next social will be held to-night (Thursday). Extensive additions are now being made in tb.3 way of anti-rooms, etc.
