EUCHRE AND DANCE.
In spite of the very uusettled state of the weather there was a good attendance at the euchre and dance (promoted by the Catholic Church Committee) in the Agricultural Hall on Monday evening last. The card tables were well patronised and the games keenly contested Mrs »M. McGarvey proved the highest ■corer among the ladies, and was the recipient of silver-mounted cruet, donated by Mrs Malligan. The gentlemen's prize, a silver match-box (presented by Mrs Cowling), was won by Mr P. Kearney. The much sought after consolation prizes were awarded tv Mrs J. S. Vercoe, and Mr Anderson. After a dainty supper had been partaken of, dancing was resumed, bringing to a conclusion a most enjoyable evening.
The Committee has decided to. devote the proceeds of their next social, which will be held on Monday, July 29th, to the Red. Cross funds. It will take the form of a hard-up and fancy-dress social and a small fine will be imposed on those appearing in ordinary costume. Eurchre will also be indulged in, and an exceptionally enjoyable evening is anticipated.
