NORTHLAND LAND DISTRICT
OBJECTION TO INCLUSION
THE Waitemata County Council at; its last meeting unanimously decided to strongly . protest against their county being included in the Northland Land District, on the ground that it was evident that the offices of the Board for the new land district would be in Whangarei, a centre most inconvenient for settlers in the Waitemata County, when their land might be in the Auckland Land District.
It was further decided to ask the Rodney County Council to protest against the inclusion of the Rodney County in the new land district, on similar grounds.
During the course of the discussion on the matter, Mr J. W. Harrison said he thought it very probable that a deeds and survey office for the Northland Land District would also be established at Whangarei, and this would mean that if the Waitemata County were a part of the district all titles to land in the County would be lodged there.
Mr W. H. Hart expressed the opinion that there should be a Northland Land District, with offices at Whangarei, a Central Auckland Land District, with offices at Auckland, and a South Auckland Land District, with offices at Hamilton, or some other suitable centre".
