EUCHRE AND DANCE
IN" AGRICULTURAL HALL
SOCIAL AND FINANCIAL SUCCESS
What proved one of the most successful socials held for some time past, eventuated in the Agricultural Hall on Monday evening last. The promoters, the Catholic Church Committee, are to be congratulated on the success of their enterprise, the floor being in perfect condition for dancing, and arrangements generally were most satisfactory. There was a record attendance, about 150 being present. A good number took part in the progressive euchre tournament, while the remainder indulged in dancing. Excellent music was provided by Miss M. Rimmer, and Messrs J. F. Lambert junr. and R. Bradly made efficient M.C.'s. A most enjoyable supper was provided, after which came the presentation of the euchre prizes, and dancing was again resumed until the wee sma' hours. Mrs Malligan (11 games out of 12) was awarded the ladies' prize, a silverinounted toilet box, presented by Mrs Jas. Hand. The gentlemen's prize (a prize Chinese goose, presented by Mrs Loughman), was won by Mr W. Turnwald. Mrs J. S. Vercoe was awarded a Kupie aa a consolation on a total score of 2, while Mr B. McCarthy was the lucky recipient of a mouse-trap, his total being 1.
The Committee wish to thank all who so kindly assisted, especially Mrs Ellett for the use of her piano.
The next euchre and dance will be held in the Agricultural Hall on Monday, June 10th.
