COMMERCIAL
MARKET REPORT.
MESSRS J. J. Jones, Auctioneers, City Market, Auckland, report as follows : —
The market this week has been steady in all lines. A large quantity of fruit has come forward. The market is easier. Potatoes that are of good quality are firmer. Kumeras much lower. The poultry market is heavily supplied, though a big proportion of the birds coming forward are light in condition. Small cockrells, all good heavy birds meet good competition. Pig market low. We quote: —
POULTRY
Hens, 2s 3d to 2s lOd, light Is 6d to Is 8d ; roosters, prime 4s to 4s 9d, good 3s 6d to 3s lOd, cockrells Is 3d to Is lid ; ducks, 'heavy 2s 9d to 3s sd, small 2s to 2s 3d ; geese, 5s to 6s; turkeys, gobblers 8s to 12s, hens 4s to 6s 9d.
Pigs—Weaners, 5s to 10s
FARM PRODUCE
Potatoes, Southern £9 10s to £10 10s, local prime £8 5s to £9, small £7 to £7 10s ; kumeras, 6s to 7s ; onions 9s to 10s ; pumpkin £4 to £5: swedes, £3 to £4; citron mellons, £3 to £4.
DAIRY PRODUCE
Butter, Is to Is 2d ; eggs, Is lOd to 2s 2d ; cheese, lid ; hams, Is 2d ; sides, Is to Is 3d.
FRUIT
Apples, dessert 4s to 6s, cookers is to 5s ; lemons, 8s to 11s 6d; pears, 4s to 8s 3d; passion fruit, 4s to 6d.
GRAIN
Maize, 8s 3d; wheat, 7s 9d ; oats, 5s 6d; Algerian, 6s 3d; barley, 7s 3d ; chaff, £12.
