MARKET REPORT.
MESSRS J. J. Jones, Auctioneers, City Market, Auckland, report as follows : —
The market this week has been exceptionally busy and a large volume of business has been put through. Values in most lines are about the same as last report. We penned a large number of poultry. For good killable birds satisfactory rates were obtained. To-day's auction was well attended, and for all the grain advertised good competition was Experienced; all lines were cleared. Potatoes are much firmer. Pigs low. We quote : — POULTRY (3450 penned) Hens, prime 2s 3d to 3s, good Is lOd to 2s 2d, small Is 6d to Is 8d ; roosters, prime up to 5s 4d, good 4s to 4s 6d, smaller 2s 6d to 2s lOd,. cockrells Is to Is 9d ; ducks, according to quality, Is 9d to 4s (a line of choice, heavy ducks realised on an average 4s 3d); turkeys, gobblers 10s to 11s 9d, hens 4s 9d to 6s 3d; geese, 5s to 7s 3d. Pigs: Market very low: weaners, 5s to 11s 6d. FARM PRODUCE Potatoes, Southern £9 10s to £10 10s, local £8 to £9 ss; onions 9s 6d; swedes £3 to £4; pumpkin £315s to £5; kumeras 7s to 8s 6d. DAIRY PRODUCE Butter, Is Id to Is 2j^d; eggs. Is 9d to 2s ; cheese, ll^d; hams, Is 2d ; sides, Is Id to Is % FRUIT Apples, dessert 4s 6d to 6s 6d ; cookers 4s to 5s 9d ; passions 3s 6d to 4s 9d ; quinces, 3s 6d to 6s 3d ; lemons, 8s 6d to 14s 3d. GRAIN Maize, 8s to 8s 4d ; wheat, 7s lOd ; oats, 5s 9d ; sharps, £10 10s; rice meal, 9s 6d ; Algerian oats, 6s 6d.
