MEMBERS ABSENT AT WAR
DISTRICTS WILL NOT
SUFFER,
A DEPUTATTON from North Auckland, which waited upon the Prime Minister at Wellington on Monday, mentioned a suggestion made by a North Auckland newspaper that a new representative in Parliament ought to be found, owing to the absence of the present member for Kaipara, Captain J. G. Coates,
at the front. The members of the deputation said they dissented entirely from this suggestion, and wished the Government to understand that nothing they had said in support of their claims for work in North Auckland carried any reflection upon Captain Coates. Mr J. A. Young the member for Waikato, has ihown his willingness to, watch ;he interests of Kaipara during ;ho member's absence. Mr Massey said the suggestion regarding Captain Coates was nean and contemptible. He felt Hire it did not represent the svishes of the Kaipara electors. N"o district would suffer because its member was at the front.
