LICE ON FOWLS

"Poultry," North AucklandPlease advise whether powdered sheep-deep on fowls will kill lice. If not, what would you recommend as an inexpensive cure ? The Live-stock Divion —Body lice may be got rid of by dusting the birds with carbolic powder, or with any of the preparations of insecticide on the market. Powdered sheep-dip would probably serve the purpose. If fowls are provided with a dustbat hthey can rid themselves of body lice in the natural way, and treatment will seldom be found necessary. Head-lice are usually found with their heads deeply buried in the skin, among the the feathers, on the fowl's head and neck. For these a light application to the head of an ointment of two parts of lard to one part of sulphur is recommended.
