A GREAT SUCCESS

THE promoters of the Bazaar held in the Star Theatre on Saturday afternoon and evening last are to be congratulated on the successful manner in which everything was carried out. The Helensville Ladies' Guild have been working strenuously for some months past, and the Kaukapakapa and Waimauku ladies also deserve great credit for the fine display. of tempting , goods which were arranged on their respective stalls. Guess" ing competitions, nail driving, hat trimming, and shooting gajllery all created interest an^K amusement- Most delicfoyjs^ strawberries and cream Qmtm* afternoon tea were to be had, ajul^ needless to say a brisk busiiie^e . was done in this department/** The proceeds, which amounted to £120, go to the A Church of England Vicarage Fund. The competitions resulted as follows: T' Nail Driving (Ladies) —There were a large number of entries, the winner being Mrs E. T. Field, with 10 hits; Miss Mclntyre second. Hat Trimming (Men) —Fred Hughes. Weight of Ham—Mrs W. Downer (131b 2oz). The stalls, which were tastefully decorated and laden with a variety of both useful and ornamental goods, attracted many buyers, and were presided over as follows: Ice Cream and Soft Drinks — Mrs Simmons and Miss Eileen McGarvey. Waimauku Jumble Stall — Mesdames Watts, Cutfield and Taylor, and Misses Fletcher and Stewart. Sweets Stall—Miss C. Becroft, assisted by the Girls' Friendly Society. . Flower Stall—Mrs Vercoe, assisted by a number of little flower girls. Plain and Fancy Stall—Mesdames Stringer and Lambert. Produce Stall—Mrs White, and Messrs Stringer and H, Bradly. Kaukapakapa Plain and Fancy Stall —Mesdames Goodwin and Bellini, and others. Bran Tub—Miss K. Turner. Christmas Tree —Misses Frood and Wilson. Surprise Packets —Mesdames McGarvey and Walters. Shooting Gallery—Mr Hi 11...,-.. Afternoon Tea, etc.—Mesdames Hunt, Forrester, McCardle, and Green, and the Misses Ferrall, Vercoe, and Mclntyre.
