SOME BURGLAR.
Saturday night last Screaton's Helensville, was broken and a few articles of clothV mg, a clock, cigarettes, and about ■ ps* worth of pennies were taken W. a.yray. The entrance was effected P % from the front, the lock on the door being broken, "% On Monday morning, on the ?arrival of the Helensville train, the Auckland police arrested a *half-caste named Henry Cook, who was wanted for thefts in the /feity, and the above missing Particles were found in his posses- / sion. Cook has only just been liberated from prison, having served ■ three months for theft in Helensville. At one time he was working on the s.s. Ruawai, but later ' took to riding about on a grey horse, with an American cowboy saddle and equipment, being an enthusiastic disciple of "Stingaree." V He came before,/the Court on Tuesday, when (the following charges were brought against tlim : Bre~a'kii!|rand damaging an automatic stamp machine in Victoria Boad, Devonport; breaking and entering Pulman's store, Devonport; breaking and entering the Quartermaster's store at Narrow Neck Camp, taking boots and cash-box containing £5 10s ; breaking and entering Devonport Ferry Co's garage; breaking open post office pillar-box at Narrow Neck; and breaking and entering a store at Helensville and steal- ■ ing goods therefrom. ') The prisoner was remanded iintil Friday (to-morrow).
