THE STAR THEATRE.
—Saturday— " The Light of . Happiness "—This big Metro drama brings the charming little actress, Viola Dana, on the screen, in what has been described by competent critics as her best performance. In this well-written and splendidly produced photoplay, the author has fashioned a story that fits the little artist perfectly, and as June Mullins (" Tangletop ") the negleqted little daughter of a drunkard, she excels herself. Edward Earle, as the man whose blindness was changed into the Light of Happiness, and Robert Walker as the manly young parson, also contribute largely to the success of the play. It would be unfair to picture patrons to tell the denouement of this fascinating story in advance ; enough to say that it is vital, human—and a surprise. —Wednesday— ■ " Pamela's Past" is an altogether delightful story on lines all too rare in the picture business. Although the main theme is strongly dramatic, and there are many stirring incidents in the picture it is splendidly lightened by a really beautiful romance and some excellent comedy touches. The story is taken from the well-known and- popular novel, " Pamela Congrieve," by Francis Aimer Matthews, and is full of action and powerful interest. The acting is uniformly of a high standard, with a charming star in Maude Fealy, and a first-class actor in Irving Cumming in the main male character part. A, varied and entertaining list of supporting features will be screened.
