THE STAR THEATRE.

—Saturday—

" The Wheel of the Law," a remarkable Metro production, starring EmilyStevens and Frank Mills. It is a striking example of what intelligent direction and high-class acting can do with a strong story, and it is no exaggeration to say that no cleverer plot has ever been evolved for the pictures. The main theme is the convicting on capital charges on merely circumstantial evidence, and it is developed in a most interesting manner to a powerful climax, showing how a brilliant lawyer is caught in his own web. Glimpses of life behind the scenes, fashionable restaurants with highly paid speciality dancers, society homes, and inside New York's famous Court and grim Sing Sing all have their place in this remarkable film. —Wednesday— " The, Heart of Tara," Mutual Masterpiece de Luxe, is a thrilling and spectacular romance of India in five acts, with a very strong cast, including Margaret Gibson, Marvel Spencer, and William Clifford. The production is lavishly produced, introducing many scenes of gorgeous Oriental splendour, particularly fine being the Harem scene, and the dance of the fountain. It has qualities which are bound to please the audience, such as attractive settings, beautiful scenery, a strongly dramatic story, plenty of action,- and the introduction of Bostock's famous animals. . The supporting pictures are both varied and extremely entertaining.
