A piano case is wanted. Found—A bag containing a sum of money. Euchre party and dance, promoted by the Church of England Ladies' Guild, in the Star Theatre on Monday evening next, 6th inst. The Helensville A. and P. Association call tenders in this issue for concreting the floor of the Agricultural Hall. Tenders close on Saturday, August 11th, with the Secretary, Mr L. L. Bailey. We regret to state that Mr Dan Stewart, one of Helensville's oldest residents, who has been ailing for some 1 time, is still confined to his bed. Arrangements are being made to hold a euchra party and dance on Monday, August 13th, in aid of the Helensville Catholic Church funds. The local blackmsmiths inform us that owing to the increased cost of material they have reluctantly increased the price of horse-shoes by Is per set. An advertisement to this effect appears in another column. The preacher at the Helensville Presbyterian Church on Sunday evening next will be the Rev. F. R. Jeffreys* Superintendent of Auckland Presbyterian Social Service Association and First Offenders' Probation Officer. The many friends of Sergt. C. F. Scott who was wounded at Messines on 7th June and admitted to Walton-on-Thames Hospital suffering from severe shrapnel wound in the shoulder, will be pleased to hear that he is now steadily improving.
A reward of £5 will be paid by Mr James Hand to any person who will give information that will lead to conviction of the person or persons who removed a piece of timber belonging to him from Railway Wharf, Helensville.
Mr C. O. Ketterer, the local jeweller, having enlisted for active service, has decided on holding a genuine sale. The s«le is now in full swing, and everything must be cleared. Intending purchasers should call early to avoid disappointment.
Saturday last was a gala day for the employees of the Hoanga sawmill. At the invitation of Mr Woolsey Allen they celebrated their annual outing by proceeding in the steamer Toiler to Helensville, where the large party were accommodated at Mr Allen's Hot Springs sanatorium till Sunday, when the home journey was made.
In our few notes on the fancy dress social held recently, we stated that it was given by the Women's Patriotic League, when it should have been reported as promoted by the Soldiers' Send-off Committee, the proceeds to go to the Helensville-Parakai branch of the Womens Patriotic League. The Send-off Committee is arranging to hold another social shortly, the proceeds going to the V.M.C.A. fund
