RESERVISTS' APPEALS.
HELENSVILLE CASES.
THE following appeals v were heard by the First Auckland Military Service Board on Thursday last at Auckland, which are of Jocal interest: — John B. Evans, farmer, Parkhurst, said he was farming 2000 acres. He had been discharged from the Main Body as unfit. Since then he had been operated on, so that he might re-enlist, but after arranging with his brother to take over the farm the latter died. Exemption was granted until November 15. C. P. Thomson, the managing director of the Kaipara Co-op. Dairy Factory Company, Ltd., asked for exemption for Joseph J. L. King, a butter-maker, jß^\ the ground that he is engag4fp^^% an essential industry. t'li^wJts stated that it was impossible to get a man to fill King's place. King had been rejected twice. The case was adjourned sine die,,/ the Board suggesting that the,>\ Company should . commence training an ineligible man or a woman.
