FAREWELL SOCIAL

TO MR W. COX,

ON Thursday evening last, in the Railway refreshment room, a farewell social was tendered to Mr W. Cox, who for the past three years has occupied the position of assistant guard on the Helensville line.

There were about thirty persons present, and the evening was a most enjoyable one, during which the time was passed with songs, speeches, toasts, and a presentation to Mr Cox. Mr A. Hammond, in a neat speech, made the presentation, ann Mr A. V. Johnson presided at the piano. •

Mr Cox left for Hamilton later in the week where he intends carrying on farming pursuits, and took with him the best wishes of his many Helensville friends.
