PATRIOTIC LEAGUE.
The. annual meeting of the Waimauku branch of the Auckland Women's Patriotic League was held in the Hall on Tuesday afternoon, Bth May.
Miss Symes was elected President, Miss Foster, Vice-President, and Mrs Kerr-Taylor Secretary and Treasurer.
A vote of thaaks was passed to Mr E. P. Mitchelson for auditing the League's books, also to Mrs Peak and Mrs Copeland for services during the past year.
It was left to the President and Secretary to arrange an evening for local boys home on final leave this month.
This branch has sent over 120 jpairs of hand-knitted socks to the A.W.P.L , besides caps, [belts, mittens, singlets, face cloths, and 26 hussiffs monthly.
PATRIOTIC CONCERT. —Muriwai Motutara School Children —
The ladies of the Wairaauku branch of the Auckland Women's Patriotic League arranged with Mr Ruddall to give a children's concert on May 11th, in aid of the V.M.C.A. Trench Comforts Fund, and a large audience filled the Waimauku Coronation Hall Every item almost, deservedly received an encore, but special mention must be made of the scene from Shakespeare's "King John, by Misses Blanchfield and Andrews and Masters Rupert Wilkins and E. Wightman. '• The Four J oily Smiths " exceptionally good also. Following is the programme :— School song, " The Mermaid" The Yellow Dandies Violin solo, Mr Blanchfield Song, " When Autumn turns the Forest Leaves to Gold," Miss de Luca Recitation, " The Fighting Temeraire " (by special request), Master lan Kerr Song, "Life's Lullaby," Miss V. Kerr Song, " Just Before the Battle, Mother," Miss B. Kerr Character sketch' " The Puritan Maid and the Suffragette," Misses Pearle and Vera Kerr Song, Miss Blanchfield Comic song, Mr Bell Scene from Shakespeare, "King John," Misses Blanchfield and Andrew ;and Masters R.Wilkins and E. Wightman Song, "Stay in your own Backyard," Master Van Andrew Dialogue, " May and Jane," Misses Kerr and de Luca Song, Miss de Luca Violin solo; Mr Blanchfield Song, "Four Jolly Smiths," Masters F. de Luca, A.' Copeland, L. Hastie, and Edgar Wightman Song and chorus, "The Whale," Masters V. Andrew and S. Kerr Song, selected Miss V. Kerr God Save The King. A vote of thanks to Mr Ruddall and his pupils was carried with hearty acclamation, and also a vote of thanks to School Chairman (Mr Wightman) for presiding. After supper the floor was cleared and dancing indulged in for a couple of hours. The sweets sold by the Misses Foster realised £2, and the door collection amounted to £8, making a total of £10 to send to the V.M.C.A. Fund,
