MR. LLOYD GEORGE AND PEACE.
Speaking at Carnarvon, Wales, last m«nth, Mr Lloyd George said :—
" The Germans know that, given time, the great Armies of the Allies will break up their military machine with its terrors; but they know that if they destroy our transports at sea our armies will languish for lack of support and sustenance, and our people will die of hunger. We cannot then keep up our armies in the East and the W ; est, and the barbarian hordes o>f- Turkey will have our Eastern Empire a/fc their mercy. You must not merely see that this does not happen ; you must make it clear to them that they cannot do it. You will get peace in. 1917 if the enemy kr^Qws that by holding, o^t un,til }9ilß. they will be wo,rse a,nd n,qt better 'off; The first thing is—out with your ready casfy 1 A big loan will shorten tb,e war J^. big number of sub, scrib,er§ v/i\\ §hor-tefl it further..
