RED CROSS TEA.

THE Parakai Branch of the Women's Patriotic League held a Red Cross Tea in the Hot Springs Domain, Parakai, on 17th February. The weather was all that could be desired, resulting in a good attendance from all the surrounding districts. Afternoon tea tables were placed under the shade of the trees, and were well patronised. Other tables were laden with ice creams, sweets, fruit, etc. Guessing competitions filled in the spare time, and caused much fun, besides bringing in a fair amount fof cash. Little girls carried round Red Cross money boxes, and also sold button-holes. The proceeds amounted to v £20 4s, with a later donation of •; 10s, bringing it to £20 14s. As the expenses amount to but a few shillings, the League have had the great pleasure of forwarding £20 to the Red Cross Fund. The members of the League wish to take this opportunity of thanking all those who so generously donated cakes, fruit, and sweets, etc., so helping to make the tea such a success.
