TO PRIVATES SCOTT AND CRAVEN.
A VERY pleasant evening was ~^ spent in the Star Theatre on *** Thursday evening last, 15th inst., when a farewell social and dance was tendered to Privates Scott and Craven(23rd Reinforcements) '-:> who were home on their final '/-# leave. The Half was comfort- '^ ably filled with well-wishers, and J" the floor in splendid condition for Vl those who indulged in dancing. " T* Mr Connelly made an excellent -* % M.C., and kept things going merrily. Miss M. pre- '?' sided at the piano, aiwFiltpplied *" excellent music to the dy^ght of "^ the dancers. * Major Turley (staff officer for s\ the district), in a happy and '• encouraging speech, • presented - " , the two soldiers with a safety ' 4 razor each. . ' The Town Band were in at ~% tendance, and enlivened the pro-\ *j ceedings greatly their items j being a.treat tv listen to. Messrs \ W. Rennie and M. McGarvey "r contribed a couple of songs each. Light refreshments were supplied * * by the ladies, and needless to say all voted the repast as beim^- i excellent, and the ladies are to 1 be congratulated on their gener- 7* osity in doing their " little bit " during these war times. Dancing ' ? was continued with zest until the *■< early hours of morning, and one " 4 and all pronounced the affair a '': great success. . -!
