HELENSVILLE TOWN BOARD.
THURSDAY, FEB. BTH, 1917. PRESENT Comrs. J. F. Lambert (chairman), A. Becroft, H. Thompson, H. Aitkenhead, H. Graham, Jas. Stewart, E. T. Field, and the clerk (Mr W. F. Raisher). MINUTES Minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE Outward correspondence was confirmed. RESOLUTION SHELVED ~ *iN oposed by Com- Stewart, sjjphded by Com. Field —That it ~be recorded that the resolution changing the Board's meetings to fortnightly, is of no effect, such resolution having been brought forward without notice of motion. TOWN LIGHTING On the»motion of Com. Stewart seconded by Com. Field, it was resolved —That a special meeting be held on Thursday, 22nd inst., to consider lighting schemes. BRIDGE MATTERS On the motion of Com. Becroft, seconded by Com. Stewart, it was resolved —That the Waitemata County Council solicitors be informed that the Board is prepared to pay a fair and reasonable proportion of cost of reconstruction of the bridge over the Kaipara River. PATRIOTIC CARNIVAL. It was decided, on the motion of Com. Stewart, seconded by Com. Aitkenhead —That the Chairman call a public meeting to consider the best means of helping forward a Carnival in aid of the Patriotic Funds, at Easter. STREET IMPROVEMENTS Proposed by Com. Field and seconded by the Chairman —That the work in Nelson Street and Rautawhiri Creek be commenced at once. FIRE BRIGADE AFFAIRS On the motion ot Com. Field seconded by Com. Aitkenhead, it was decided —That a fire bell and other accessories be purchased at a cost of £7 ss, the Fire Brigade paying half from entertainment funds, and the Board the other half. RIDING ON FOOTPATHS The Chairman proposed and Com. Graham seconded" —That information to the Police be laid against all persons riding on footpaths. ROAD MAKING PLANT On the motion of Com. Becroft seconded by the Chairman, it was decided—That the Clerk write to the Waitemata County Council enquiring if they are going to purchase a steam roller and road-making plant, and if so . will they loan to Town Board when required. POUND KEEPER Proposed by Corn, Stewart and seconded by Com, Thompson — That Mr Tucker's resignation as* pound-keeper be accepted, .and that applications for the position be advertised for.
