DOMAIN BOARD.

HELENSVILLE, DEC. 14th., 1916, —Present— Corns. J. F. Lambert (Chairman), A. Becroft, H. Thompson, H. Aitkenhead," E. T. Field, H. Graham, J. Stewart, and the Secretary (Mr H. W. Stringer). —Minutes— Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. General Business— Proposed by Com. Aitkenhead, and seconded by Com. Graham—That the necessary work be carried out to complete the wash-house at the baths. It was also decided to instal an iron frame copper in above wash-house, and that a brick copper be built at the caretakers' wash-house.—Carried. Permission was given for the erection of a marquee on the Springs grounds for the purpose of supplying refreshments. Several complaints were made by letter that on one occasion the bath attendant had locked the premises, during meal hours, while persons were in the bath. Proposed by Com. Field and seconded by Com. Thompson—That the attendant be told not to lock-up while persons are in the bath. Proposed by Com. Becroft, seconded by Com. Field—That a clock be placed in some prominent position, and that in future a bell be rung five minutes before closing time to warn bathers.—Carried. It was decided to procure two new tennis nets. As about two dozen towels are required, it was decided to procured a quotation for the necessary number, to be marked similar to those used by shipping companies. Proposed by Com. Stewart and seconded by Com. Graham—That extra assistance be obtained for the baths during the holidays.—Carried. Mr I. Hughes (Secretary of the Town Band), wrote asking permission for the Band to play at the Springs on Sunday afternoons. —Received. Owing to the extra duties that have recently been entailed upon the bath attendant (Mrs Stokes), it was decided to raise her salary to 35s per week. This was all the business.
