FAREWELL SOCIAL.
A very pleasant evening was spent at Stewart's Theatre on Monday )ast, the occasion being a send-off to Privates J. Cox and Steve Illingworth, of the 20th Reinforcement, who are on their final leave. Owing to the short notice given, the attendance was not large as was expected. Miss Cullens officiated at the piano, and Mr Redfern made an excellent M.C., keeping things going merrily. In between the dancing, items were contributed by the following: Mr M_ _. Siunkbird ::'; Mr Oamerqn, sqiigj if %k" Rq'sery " ; Mr Redfern, s,qngj, ?• dusky' %se "; Mr Martin, recitation, ." The man from Iron Barque " ; Mr W. Reyland, reoitation, li Maori go to War "; Mr W, Qantell recitation, " The Barber's Assistant," and as an encore, "Boasting." In a neat and appropriate speech, Major Turley presented the two soldiers with a razor and cigarette case each ; also a pair of socks from the Ladies' Patriotic Committee.
