WELCOME TO REV. AND MRS VENABLES.
A SOCIAL to welcome the Rev. and Mrs Venables to the Parochial District of Helensville, was held in the Star Theatre on Monday evening last. There was a large attendance of - members of the Church, and also members of other denominations. Mr H. White junr Minister's Warden, in introducing the ' Vicar, said he would find that he had a hard district to work, especially as the :^ late Vicar had felt the strain, which eventually led him to resign^r^u* to his death. Mr Venables, in reply, thanked all Church workers for their kindness \- m coming to welcome Mrs Venables and himself. He said he knew that he had a lot of work before him, and would do his best to.keep up the standard attained by the late Vicar, who had done great work in the district. Musical items, cards, and dancing made up a very pleasant evening. ~The. following is the programme: Male quartette, '• Come sing to me," Messrs Cameron, Keri, and Redfernßros ; BOn g, '• The Gladiator," ■ ??'
