DEFENCE NOTES.

THE monthly memorial service will be held on Sunday, 19thinst., at the Star Theatre. The Rev. A. A. Murray, of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Auckland, will conduct the service, an.d will preach on the subject "Dying like a fool." A collection will be made in a\d of the N.Z. Sick and Wounded Soldiers* Fund. The Helens ville Platoon of the' K.D.R.C. held a meeting at the\ Agricultural Hall on Friday last, when it was decided to hold parades on every alternate Friday, commencing Friday, 17th inst. The usual rifle practice will be held on Saturday.
