AWAROA BOWLING CLUB

—Singles Competition—

The first match of the season was for a gold star in a singles competition for all members of the Club. The holder, President Hill, was challenged by Cuthbert, the match being played on Thursday evening, when a very even game was the result, as the scores indicated. Cuthbert proved the winner, his score being 16, and Hill's 12, On Saturday afternoon, in the same competition, Cuthbert against Cullens, again won; score, 22 each, and in the play-off Cuthbert won by 1 point. . —Town Board v. Awaroa Clvb — A full two-rink match between the Town Board and the Club was played. Scores: — Town Board —No. 1 team: Lambert, Hafford, Stringer, and Graham (skip), 19. No. 2 team : Vause, Field, Aitkenhead, and Cormack (skip), 15. Total, 34. Awaroa Club—No. 1 team: Garry Walters, Smith, and Hammond (skip), 17. No. 2 team: Constable, Murray, Ellett, and Hill (skip), 16. Total, 33. Majority for Board, 1. A return match will probably be played at the Springs green before long.
