PRODUCE MARKET
Mr. J.Jones, Auctioneer, Victoria and Lome Streets, Auckland, reports :— Business in the produce and fruit markets this week has been exceptionally good, a large volume of trade being done. The poultry market was heavily supplied and for good conditioned birds good prices were obtained. The prices ruling for poultry for the last few months do not show much of a weakening. A few potatoes came forward in very heavy supply, and the market lowered considerably. The majority of the lines wanted grading badly, as buyers will not take mixed lines unless at a much lower basis than prime graded, We cannot imprest upon growers enough to be careful of the grading. Southern table and seed-pota-toes are selling well. Pig 8 are in strong demand. We quote :— POULTRY 750 penned.
