FRIDAY. Roumania is Reinforced — Russian Troops Arrive — Great Battle in Galicia — Success on Salonika Front. The military situation in Transylvania and the Dobrurlja sho*ws an improvement. By admission of the enemy, gro.it Russian and Roumanian forces have appeared on all the Balkan fronts, and tho offensives conducted by Generals Falkenhayn and Mackensen are at a standstill. , The enemy has succeded in entering Gyitnes Pass, one of the northern roids through the Carpathians, and ' 'penetrating 10 miles into Roumanian il-- territory. THURSDAY Recapture of Douaumont — Over 3500 Prisoners Taken — Great Pressure on Roumania. In one successful sction the French have recaptured nearly all the positions of strategic importance on the right bank of the Meuse, which were taken by the Germans in their attack on Verdun, lasting nearly five months. The French burst in the enemy's lines on a front of five miles to a maximum depth of nearly two miles, and recaptured the ruined village of Douaumont, They also took Haudromont quarries and captured over 3500 prisoners.

The captain of a Norwegian steamer states that a naval battle took place in the Arctic Sea, where he saw many submarines.
