Gordon Milligan; Among the congregation were« settlers from Wainui, Makarau, Kanohi and other' districts. Major Turley, officer in command of the military group, was present, as also were Lieutenants Fletcher and Garry, several returned soldiers, the members of the Kaipara Rifle Club, and the Cadets and Territorials. The Methodist Minister, Rev. J. A. Lamond, officiated, and preached a stirring, helpful, and hopeful sermon from the text: " A strong man's glory is in sacrifice." At the conclusion of the service, •the organist (Mr Dye, senr.) impressively rendered the ''Dead March," and Buglar Langsford sounded the "Last Post." A collection was taken up for the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, and resulted in £4 5s being collected.
