The Rev. A. O. Venables, Curate of St. Sepulchre's Church, Auckland, has been appointed as Vicar of the Parochial District of Helensville. He will take up his duties here after Synod, which meets ou October 13.

The Right Rev. Dr. Averill, Bishop of Auckland, is expected to visit Helensville on Sunday, September 24th. He will conduct services at St. Matthew's Church, and will also conduct the Military Service sin the afternoon at Stewart's Hall at 2.30 p.m. >

The Red Cross Tea held in the Star Theatre on Thursday last, Ist inst., was a decided success. The proceeds' total about £12, and over £10 of this will go towards buying comforts for our soldier boys at the front. Several competitions were held, causing great amusement, as did the shooting gallery. A Jdelicious afternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies of the League. During the evening a dance was held, Mrs Arlidge supplying the music in her usual accomplished style.
