FAREWELLING OUR BOYS.
On Saturday afternoon last a large gathering of the public assembled at the Helensville Railway Station to bid adieu to another batch of our boys, who are shouldering the rifle for the cause of the Empire. They are Privates H. Fennor, W. Ross, R. Geldard, and H. Hepworth. They had been visiting their homes and friends here, on their final1 leave, and to celebrate the occasion the Helensville Brass Band turned out in full force, and played several excellent selections suitable for the occasion. The Defence Rifle Club and Senior Cadets turned out, and helped to enliven the proceedings. In a neat little speech, Mr E. T. Field (Chairman of the Town Board) wished the boys mentioned " God Speed" in their travels to the seat of war ; that when they arrived Ja't the firing line he felt sure they would be a credit to the Empire, and show the Allies that the Colonials could do their part when duty called them. The train then moved out of the station amidst hearty cheers.
