RED CROSS TEA

A VERY successful Red Cross Tea was held in the Star Theatre (rent free by Mr Becroft) on Wednesday afternoon, July sth., and the proceeds amounted to £9 12. The musical part of the programe was in charge of Mrs Carter, and items were contributed by Miss Wilson (piano solo), Mr Carter and Mrs Burgess (duet), Miss Rimmer and Mr Carter, all being greatly appreciated. The ladies of the League dispensed afternoon tea, and worked well together. The guessing competitions, which were in charge of Mesdames Sewell, Rose, Peacock, Eames Wilson and White, were won as follows : Name of doll, Mr Murphy ; beans in a bottle, Mrs Spinley; nursery rhymes, Mrs Rose; numbers, Mrs Wilson.
