CONCERT AT PARAKAI.
The concert given in aid of the Parakai branch of the Women's PatriotiCiLeague, in the Parakai Hall on the 15th inst., was a great success. Although the weather Was very gloomy through the day the evening was all that could be desired, resulting in a well filled hall, the audience representing all the surrounding districts. The programme was a lengthy and interesting one, and did great credit to Mrs McGarvey, on whom the management fell. The first item was a tableau, " Britannia and Her Allies." Then followed songs, recitations violin solos, dances, etc., most of the items being encored. The concert was closed by singing the National Anthem. A dance followed, and was well patron^ iaed by young and old.
The committee of the branch League desire to thank all those who so kindly, gave their services towards the evening's entertainment.
The tickets sold and money taken at the door amounted to £8, and the expenses (hall and printing of tickets and programmes) £1 10s, leaving' a credit balancs of £6 10s.
