HOT SPRINGS HOUSES' SEWERAGE.
TO THE EDITOR
SIR, —In answer to Mr McLeod's letter re Hot Springs' houses, I would point out that the first part of his., letter is sufficiently replied to in my letter of even.date on Town Board affairs. Only one of us is clearly telling the truth. But with reference to the latter part, re Hinemoa House, the position is simple. For the past six months the Domain Board has received tens of thousands of gallons of hot mineral water for the baths from Hinemoa House, and in return have allowed Hinemoa House to pass its sewerage and bath water down the Board's drains. We have received our quid pro quo. The Board has no interest in assisting Hinemoa House outside of this. In fact, we have asked the Government to take it over and add it to the Springs Domain. We cannot take the sewerage from all the boarding houses as our pipes are not large enough. We would willingly help them all we could. In fact, the members of the Board informed a delegate from the boarding-houses that the Board would assist them in forming a special drainage district. Mr McLeod's other insinuations are beneath my contempt.—l am, etc.,
E. Thurlow Field, Helensville, June 6, 1916.
