It is now freely stated that Germany's losses are not less than 22 ships.'
The new battle-cruisers Hindenburg and Lutzow, both completed since the outbreak of war, are among the German losses. It is also doubtful if the Derfflinger escaped.
Complete record of -British losses : —Queen Mary, battle cruiser; Indefatigable, battle cruiser ; Defence, armd. cruiser;, Black Prince, armd. cruiser; Wairior, armd. cruiser ; and eight destroyers. . .. .
German losses,so far .as ascertained. — Hindenberg, . battlecruiser; Lutzow, battle-cruiser; Westfalen, battleship;: ; Kaiser class battleship, callddTommern; Rostock type cruiser; Elbing, cruiser, and at least nine destroyers and one submarine.
The British destroyer Spitfire sank a German battleship with a torpedo during tHe night, and then rammed a submarine.
