SPECIAL interest was taken in the above which was held in the Star Theatre on Monday evening last. It was the occa ssion of the drawing of an art union, • the prize being a valuable kauri gum lighthouse, donated by Mr A. Bishop, of the Terminus Hotel. The ticket admitted holder to the Picture entertainment, and the proceeds of the whole (about £30) will go to the Helensville Platoon Fund (Kaipara Defence Rifle Club). A very interesting and varied programme was submitted, of which " The Mills of the Gods " was the principal feature. During the interval Captain Turley (staff officer), on behalf of the Defence Corps, thanked all those who had assisted, and especially Mr Bishop for donating, the gift; Mr D, Stewart for the use of his ground as a rifle range; Messrs J Stewart and Becroft, for picture shows; and Mr J.
