MISSED HIS MARK.

CONSTABLE DriscQLL, from information received, made a dart for a place called Wharehine, 50 miles from home, on Saturdaylast, in search cf a man named Charles Henry Roxborough, who escaped from custody at Hamilton, on a charge of burglary, about a week ago. The party, accompanied by a detective had a rather bad time of it, and walked many miles of beach and swamp, lacerating their feet with shell-fish, etc. On the return journey, Constable Driscoll sprained his ankle getting into a boat, but more unfortunate still, missed his man, who was miles ahead, but was picked up on Monday near Dargaville, and passed on to Auckland, Wednesday (yesterday).
