BOWLING.

AWAEOA BOWLING CLUB

THE "ROOSTERS"

At last the " Roosters " have changed hands. The holders, Messrs Hammond and. Driscoll, going down to Messrs Cuthberfc and Coutts, after a very close contest. The new holders were afterwards defeated by Messrs Smith and Bishop, after a neck-and-neck game, by 20 to 18. Probably not since this competition started —over a year ago — has such /a popular win been recorded. Mr Bishop generously donated the pair of " roosters " to the Club for competition, and has ever since been trying hard to lay claim to wear one of them. He is to be congratulated on his persistency, and long may he and his partner wear them. Last Saturday they for the first time successfully defended their title by defeating Messrs Garry and Callagher by 30 to 26. CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES Mr Hammond, by defeating Messrs Graham and Phillips in the sub-section, won the championship for the second year in succession. Congratulations to Mr Hammond. HANDICAP SINGLES This event was won by Mr Cuthbert, who defeated Messrs Graham, Ellett, and Callagher in the sub-section round. Mr Cuthbert has always played a consistent game and the win is well deserved. EASTER TOURNAMENT A committee meeting takes place to-night (Thursday) at 7.45 p.m., to consider an Easter Tournament.
