FROM THE FRONT

WORD reaches us that our old friend, Captain H. D. Eccles, R.A.M.C., of Kawakawa,- is still alive and well " somewhere "in France. He is attached to the 13th Royal Irish Rifles, 108 th Brigade, 36th Division, and has already experienced several miraculous escapesDr. Eccles, who was through the Boer War, is one of those " flinty, wiry boys," and as sharp as a needle, always on the alert for the enemy,, and is quite enjoying trench life as far as it goes, but no doubt will be glad when the war is over, and he can again administer pills and black draughts to his many friends in the Bay of Islands.
