[OWN co^^^^^^^^^^^^| Last Thursday ,^^^^^^^^^^^H Floral Fete was h^l^^^^^^^^H with, tlie Public School^^^^^^^^H kapa. The day was fine^^^^^^^H number of the parent 3 ,^^^^^^^H attended. Mr F. Dyp ("^^^^^^^| the School Committee J j^^^^^^H piano, which was jpl^^^^^^^H school ground, and! opened with a procdss^in otflta^B dress and decorated yj£^, etc. May^| pole dancing by"* Vie girls, fancyuj inarching and drill squads, tunnelpassing, overhead passing, Highland ! fliug, and tug'o war for boys all heibed to bjrighten the ' afternoon. The hearty, 'applause of the people showed then appreciation of the school teachers' efforts and the children's success. The afternoon tea kiosk wa3 well managed by the Misses Drinnan and Dormer, who were icept busy, and really, Mr-Editor;- their strawberries and cream were superb. A lolhe and, sweets stall, looked after by \li«ee3< Waddell and Haidy, wasa^go^well patronised. 1"' The bchool exhibits we^^iiioely; arranged in the school by »£s?. ,*JBS Koller (headmaster) and the aSiistaifit'; teachers. Miss Bellingham worked hard with the childred, and Miss Dye and Mr S. Osbaldiston assisted with the music. CHURCH PARADE A Ohurch parade Avaa . held 'at. Kauxapakapa on Sunday last by the Defence hiiie Club. The men wore their uuiform, and marched from, the Hall to the Methodist. Church. There was a large attendance. Mr F. Dye presided at the . organ, and national hymns were sung, The Rev Mr Lamond preached a recruiting sermon on young David of Bethleliem hasteing to the battle-front- for his' nation, Israel, against the Philistines. The preacher said that the Philistines have their Groliaths in Germany today, and it rsmams now for Israel to find their Davids somewhere in the British Empire. The service was closed by singing the National Anthem.
