DEFENCE NOTES
The parade of the Helensville Platoon , Kaipara Defence Rifle Club, called for Saturday next, 11th, will be held as advertised.
The Headquarters Platoon of the Kaipara Defence, Rifle Club held the opening of their range for the season last Saturday at Kaukapakapa. Teams, were picked and a match was fired. A feature of the occasion was the shooting of some of the Kaukapa- : k'apa ladies, wlio put up good scores at 300 yards.
Captain Turley has been at Paparoa, attending the Group Rifle Meeting, and is expected to return to-day (9th inst.) '
