QUEEN OF THE NORTH IN HELENSVILLE
ON Saturday last Mrs A. E. Harding (Queen of the North) visited Helensville, arriving by the s.s. Wairua,, and was met at the wharf by Mr Field (Chairman of the Town Board,), and his fellow commissioners, also a representative body of the ladies of Helensville. Unfortunotely, a large number of local people were absent at the Auckland Show and Carnival, ami therefore the number present was less than it would otherwise have been, Mrs Harding was then invited by the ladies to afternoon tea at the Star Theatre,- where a nice dainty little meal was partaken of. By her kindly, gracious and unaffected manner, Mrs Harding won all,/<t hearts, and during tea and aftej4p wards gave an interesting '"4yw count of her experiences. Shf>lr then gave a neat little : aidrAS^,|' expressing her appreciation in %'■ the .highest terms of the kind manner in which she. had every-
where been met, and the- en-
thusiasm shown throughout the
district |n the good work of rais-
ing funds for the sifck and
wounded soldiers. A number of ladies and gentlemen, including [ the Chairman,^accompanied Mrs
Harding to the station and went as far as Ohirangi, where they wished her good-bye and good
luck.
About 6 p.m. we saw the Town Board Chairman, accompanied by half-a-dozen ladies, returning to Helensville on foot, looking thoroughly satisfied that they had done their duty.
