The Helensville and Te Pua School Committees have granted the school children a whole holiday on Friday in connection with Sports Gala Day for Wounded Soldiers' Fund.
After five years' service at the, Uuion Bank of Australia, Helensyille, Mr N. McMillan has been transferred to Matata with an increase in salary. During his stay here Mr McMillan won the esteem of all. Owing to the increase oi business, his place has been taken by Messrs H. Monk and E. Eames. both local boys.

Mr Stringer has received a letter from the Railway Traffic Manager stating that he has arranged to delay the departure of the Wellsford train on Friday, 19th inst., from 2.15 p.m. to 4 p.m., and the Auckland train from 4.15 pirn, to 4.30 p.m. The latter train cannot be delayed later on account of disorganising the traffic on other lines.
Gala Day on Friday—After the great efforts being made by the Committee towards the success of the Northern Queen Carnival, who can say amongst us whether it is going to be wet, fine or thundering, after the boisterous exenperience thrown at us by Mars of late '? We can only hope for the best.
Mr H. W. Stringer begs to acknowledge receipt of the following sums' for the Wounded Soldiers' Fund :—Messrs R. B. Crane, £5; H.-H. Adlington, £5; J. Archibald, £5; Jas. Webster (sale of lamb per Buekland and Sons), £5 8s ; A. Becroft, £Z 10s. Kaipara Dairy Coy., £100; Mr and Mrs N. J. Green £2. The Farmers' Union have donated £300 to the Northern Queen, of which £25 is credited to the Helensville account.
The well-known patriotism of Helensville residents was liberally displayed on Tuesday evening, when an audience of 23, which included four ladies, turned up at the Star Theatre to hear the patriotic addresses given by Messrs Gillies iHamilton) and Park (Onehunga). Both gentlemen gave interesting addresses on Wounded Soldiers' Fund, and received a splendid hearing from those present.
