DEFENCE NOTES

The Helensville Platoon of the Kaipara Defence Rifle Club will parade at 1.45 p.m. on Friday next to take part in the Carnival. The parade on Saturday will be cancelled.

Next week's parades will be as usual —Thursday and Saturday. ■* * *

The Mounted Rifles go into camp at Te Papapa on Wednesday, 17th inst.

On Saturday afternoon afternoon last three of our brave youths left for the training camp at Trentham preparatory to proceeding to the war zone. They were ; Sergt. C. F. Scott, Privates Lambert and Wilson, belonging to the 12th Reinforcement. The Helensville Platoon assembled at the railway station and gave the young soldiers three hearty cheers. Later in the afternoon Mr J. Lambert photographed the corps, with Private Bennett (a returned wounded soldier) in the centre of the group.
