Landing in Greece—Allied Force at Salonika —r Bulgaria Involved in War—No Reply to UltimatumRussian Fleet in Black Sea — Germans Marching on Servia

An Athens message received in London states that the allied forces have landed at Salonika, the Greek port on the JEgean Sea. The Greek public recognise the necessity for the landing.

The time allowed Bulgaria by Russia to break with Germany and dismiss German and Austrian officers expired at two o'clock on Monday afternoon (London time) No reply was received, and up-to a late hour on Monday the allies' proposals are presumed to be rejected. Under the terms of the ultimatum its rejection would lead to the Russian Minister leaving Bulgaria. It is reported that a fully-equipped Russian squadron has left Odesse under sealed orders.

An Austro-German army, estimated at a-quarter of a million, under General yon Mackensen, with powerful guns, is advancing upon Servia. Germany is transferring troops from Bukovina and the Carpathians. Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, is practically under martial law.

The Germans on Sunday afternonn made repeated attempts to regain the positions lost near Hulluch, three miles south of La Bassee. They charged over the open time and again, but none reached the British trenches The German losses were very severe.

The American Government has pronounced the latest German Note on the sinking of the Arabic unsatisfactory.
