Victorious Advance—British Entry into Loos—Heroism of Kitchener's
Men—Brilliant Stand on Hill 70— Advance Continued
The London Chronicle correspondent describes the joy of the troops on leaving their trenches for an attack on Loos, three and a-half miles distant, their charge into the village in the face of a terrible machine-gun fire, a heroic stand for 13 hours on Hill 70, and the attack on Hulluch, which was also bristling with machine-guns. The two days' fighting was a triumph for Kitchener's army, arid one of the greatest British achievements during the war.
Further details of. the allies' successes on the western front show that Germany's total losses are estimated at over 120,000. The captures include 25,000 prisoners and many guns. '
The mobilisalion of the Greek army is proceeding with enthusiasm. It is estimated that 400,000 are] available.
