TOWN BOARD FINANCIAL STATEMENT
At the last meeting of the Helensville Town the Chairman made a brief statement of the financial position of the Board.
When the present Board came into office just a year ago they found that while Bank account was overdrawn to practically the full extent there were outstanding accounts due amounting to £570. Since that date the general account and the drainage accounts had been consolidated, and by the strictest economy during the past year the debts had been considerably reduced. The indebtedness of the Board had been reduced to £450 and against this the general account had advanced to the water and drainage account the sum of £370. Demands for water rate and drainage rates hadVnow been sent out and when these came in the water and drainage account should be able to pay back to the general account a good part of what had been advanced. We are now nearly in the middle of the second half of the year, and when next half-year accounts come in the water and drainage account should be nearly square.
The financial position of the Board had very much improved, and provided the Board continued a policy of strictest economy the outlook was satisfactory.
