Russians Advancing—Fierce Battle Near Grodno — Germans Thrice Repulsed — American Anger at Germany

The Russians continue victorious in the Trembovla and Tchort"Wsf; regions, in Galicia. Near Js?mt>ovla on Thursday they jjaptured 500 prisoners, and the Austiians retreated precipitately. The Russians are advancing on the left bank cf the Dwina, in the Baltic. In the direction of Skidel south-east of Grodno, and the Lower Zelvianka, the enemy attempted by concentrated artillery fire to break through the Russian front, but were three times repulsed.

The Germans have launched several attacks on the French lines, using liquid fire m one instance. On the whole, the French maintained their positions re-establishing themselves by counter-attacks when compelled temporarily to give way.

The Italians are advancing on Carso Plateau, near Gorz.
