THE KAIPARA AND WAITEMATA ECHO With which is incorporated "The Kaipara Advertiser & Waitemata Chronicle." Helensville, Thursday, Aug. 26, 1915 THE UPLIFTER

Like many another Pastoral and Agricultural Association, which has for its main object the uplifting of the settlers' interests and the annual social gathering of all classes, Helensville is amongst those trying its level best to bo counted amongst the successful ones, though for several years past it has meet with bad weather conditions, its last effort being almost enough to deter one from attempting to " try, try again," but thanks to the stout hearts of our sturdy settlers and the energy thrown in by the Helensville A. and P, Society's secretary, greater efforts than ever are to be made to make the coming Show next January 29th, a huge success; only give all concerned that great desideratum, and with the aid of the new President and his fellow coadjutors, with their well-meant intentions to make vast improvements in the grounds and pens, that great aim—success—will surely be attained.

At the annual meeting of the local A. and P. Association, held last • Monday evening, several important matters were discussed, to which we direct our readers'attention, and all, for many miles around, should lend a helping hand towards the main object. As is plainly to be seen, climatic iunuences have been against us, therefore finances are none too good, but after all, the Society is now starting again under better conditions, they having disposed of one of their many splendid sections at a fair price, and so reducing their banking liabilities. And no doubt, owing to the beastly war cropping up, many more lots would have been disposed of ere this, thus giving the Society better encouragement to l°ad on; nevertheless, we can only say that " All's well that ends well," therefore, cheer up! for the great success looming m the distance, but your unstinted

support is the priucipal forerunnor to that, which 'we trust will be given freely.
