THE KAIPARA AND WAITEMATA WITH WHICH IS INCORPORATED "THE KAIPARA ACVERTISER & WAITEMATA CHRONICLE." HELENSVILLE, THURSDAY, AUG 12, 1915 THE HAPPY HOUSE

PARLIAMENTARIAN BROTHERS ALL NATIONAL PARLIAMENT PREVAILS

Now that the Hon. Mr Massey and Sir Joseph Ward hav Te succeeded in carrying through all negotiations for a National Parliament in N.Z. — while the war lasts—the pessimistic press, who alone glorified in the. downfall of a successful issue a week ago, have scarcely anything to say, other than enumerate the composition .of the new Coalition Cabinet.

That the right thing has been accomplished most sensible people will admit, whether they voted at last election for the Massey or Ward Party or not. Thus Party Government has for the time being, been swept clean away, and who can say but that the experiment of sensible and friendly administration for the good of the people will not be lasting, instead of reverting back to bitter ill-feeling for the reins of Government after the war has concluded? We know that the old political Adam dies hard, but here we have the real i* Eeform," the Reform that even Mr Massey never dreamt of.

There is much, to be said in favour of the new Cabinet as it now stands, with Mr Massey and Sir Joseph Ward at the head of affairs, and some of the best men picked from both sides of the House as coadiutors and helpers in this the Empire's time of need. Let us hope that now the cherished ambitions for place and power have been sacrificed, good sense and real patriotism will prevail. We know that there could be a slight improvement in the new Cabinet, but as the experiment is young, this may be effected later on ; in the meantime we wish one and all a happy consummation.
